FAQS about Counseling
It is normal to have questions about counseling and therapy services.
Here are a few of the most common questions about counseling services that I provide..
How do I know who to see?
Finding a counselor that you trust is a very personal decision. If you think you may be impacted by sex, love, or pornography addiction- it is best to see someone who specializes in working with individuals and their partners who are impacted by these issues. Otherwise, it is best to find someone that you feel comfortable with. For example, if you are impacted by love and relationship addiction or sex addiction, seeing a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) means your therapist has been through extensive training and testing to ensure they provide the most comprehensive, respectful, and effective services possible.
What happens in therapy?
Counseling and therapy services are focused on transforming your lives and helping you understand the patterns that aren't working in your lives and making new patterns. It is also a time to connect or re-connect with your skills, strengths, and positive traits. Sometimes the positives of who you are and your life get buried under the trauma and crisis of infidelity, addiction, or break-ups.
Are you currently taking new clients?
I do currently have limited availability for new clients. Call me today at (626) 463-1422 for your free 15 minute phone consultation to talk through your needs and find out if I am the right person for you.
Do you accept insurance?
Every insurance plan is different and no therapist is on every insurance panel. Your insurance company can give you information about reimbursement of all or part of the cost of therapy services. We can also talk about privacy and pros and cons of using insurance in certain instances.
How much does counseling cost?
Great question! Everyone's needs are different. Most people I work with come in weekly for a period of time (not forever) to change their pattern and dynamic. My rate is $150 for each 50 minute session. More than financially, counseling is an investment of the intense time and energy it takes to make change. Whatever rate someone charges- look for someone that you believe can help you, because if they can't, even $20 a session is too much!
